The next BSidesLisbon will be an in-person held in 7th and 8th April 2022.
We’ve had to make this decision due to the fact that there’s still a lot of uncertainty around what would be the limitations and risks involved in holding an in person event this November. There’s some expectation that life will be back to a somewhat “normal” state later this year, but we needed to start planning now. After carefuly analysing all the pros and cons, the team has opted to move the conference to a data where there’s a lot more confidence that we’ll be able to do the event as close to the previous editions in a safe way, and with little probability that we’ll need to change the date (again).
Why not do a virtual event ?
We’ve discussed this quite a lot since last year. The answer is simple. BSidesLisbon has always been an event where you go not only to attend great talks with great technical content, but also to interact with all the members in the community. We really see it as an “extended family gathering”, where we all meet to not only talk shop, but also to be with friends, make new friends, and just have fun together. Going virtual does not provide any of this experience, and we’re all surely getting virtual meetings fatigue…
What’s next ?
We’ll keep you informed on any changes or important dates. But right after the summer we’ll open the CFP!
